Q1: Where can I find a lawyer to help me in a legal matter?

Answer: The MCB sponsors a Lawyer Referral Service which can refer you to a lawyer who will provide you with a 30 minute consultation to discuss your legal issue. The service offers the public an initial consultation for a fee of $30.00. 

Q2: What is the address / fax / phone for lawyer X? 

Answer: The MCB has a data base of all lawyers who are licensed in N. C. and who practice in Mecklenburg County.

Q3: My lawyer has not answered my phone messages and I am concerned about the status of my case.  What recourse do I have? 

Answer: The caller is referred to the executive director for assistance. It may be suggested that the caller file a complaint with the Bar.

Q4. The billing statement from my lawyer appears to be excessive. What can I do? 

Answer: The caller is referred to the executive director to discuss the MCB's Fee Arbitration Program.

Q5: Where can I get a list of lawyers who practice in Mecklenburg County?

Answer: The MCB does not disseminate its list of members to the public. Advertising opportunities are available upon request but the MCB reserves the right to deny access based on an established policy.

Q6: What is the time, location, cost of a particular Continuing Legal Education program? How can I register? 

Answer: Caller is referred to CLE coordinator for details or to the CLE page 
in the newsletter.

Q7: Have I paid my dues for the current fiscal year? 

Answer: Caller is referred to staff who will check the database to check on status of payment.

Q8: What is time, location for a section, committee meeting or other special MCB function? Can I register for this event? 

Answer: Caller is referred to specific staff to answer this question or to calendar of events located in newsletter.

Q9: How can I join a particular section, the Lawyer Referral Service, serve in 
the Volunteer Lawyers Program, become involved in the MCB? 

Answer: Caller is referred to specific staff who coordinate various programs for assistance.

Q10: How can I get help through the Lawyer Support Program (or I am having a problem and need help of a personal or professional nature) 

Answer: Lawyer is referred to the confidential Lawyer Support Program
