Mecklenburg County Bar - History and Mission
The Mecklenburg County Bar, 26th Judicial District, was established in
1912. Today there are nearly 3,000 members who serve the public and profession through a
variety of programs and services. These functions are carried out through the established
committees and sections under the general policies and procedures approved by
its elected Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
The organizational purpose is to render appropriate service to the public and
the District Bar membership in improving and preserving the administration of justice, and to
assist the North Carolina State Bar as prescribed by statutory requirements. The
operational goals of the MCB are as follows:
1. Administration of Justice
2. Public Access to Responsible Legal Services
3. Pro Bono Services
4. Public Information & Education
5. Membership Education and Support
6. Membership Activities
7. Finance & Operations
These goals are carried out by the work of the established committees and
sections.
